A great Egret gazes into their reflection in a marsh. I was at a nature preserve on a photography assignment and connected with this Egret. The photograph turned out great but I really wanted to explore this scene and its colors in oil paint.

Sometimes photography steals some of the waking hallucinations I experience while engaged in really looking at scene. In other words, reality is too often stale. For me, the connection to the story of Narcissus was how I was viewing the scene. In reality the animal was just fishing. But thats what I love about art, and nature and exploring the overlap.
